Modesto, Calif- Save Mart recognizes the challenges of feeding a growing population and is committed to cultivating leaders in the agricultural industry. To help nurture young talent in the field, Save Mart partnered with the National Future Farmers of merica (FFA) Foundation and awarded fifteen $1,000 scholarships to fifteen deserving future leaders in our communities for the first time.
“I am excited to help emerging leaders in the agriculture industry achieve their aspirations,” said Hal Levitt, VP of Save Mart Store Operations. “I encourage all Save Mart-FFA Scholarship recipients to continue their academic careers and wish them the best on their journeys.”
In 2017, the National FFA Foundation awarded a total of $2.7 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of applicants. Scholarships were donated by numerous businesses and individuals including The Save Mart Companies Scholarship, which was one of 1,800 scholarships available this year. FFA’s selection process takes into account a student’s entire background: FFA involvement, work experience, supervised agricultural experience, community service, leadership skills and academics.
All fifteen scholarship recipients are welcomed to pursue careers with The Save Mart Companies. Not only do we run more than 200 stores throughout California and Northern Nevada, but also operate Mid Valley Dairy and Sunnyside Farms.
