Celebratory Ribbon Cutting Includes $6,500 in Community Investments and Performance by Modesto’s Ballet Folklorico Los Falcones
MODESTO, Calif. – (January 15, 2025) – Save Mart, a part of The Save Mart Companies, the largest regional grocery chain in California, marked the start of the new year with the grand re-opening of its newly revived location at 3601 Pelandale Avenue in Modesto. Honorary guests and community members were treated to an exciting performance by Modesto’s own Ballet Folklorico Los Falcones and lined up as early as 6:00AM for their chance to buy a selection of rare and exclusive bourbons or win a $1,000 shopping spree.
Extensively refreshed, the neighborhood grocery store was reimagined to meet the evolving shopping needs and tastes of the hometown community with thousands of new items and an expanded assortment of Hispanic products. The store features over 600 new wines, spirits and beer selections, “fresh cut” produce prepared daily, 275 specialty cheeses for creating the perfect charcuterie board and an enhanced bakery department with Mexican specialties including fruit and cream-stuffed conchas, Tres Leches cakes, gelatina rings and pan dulce selections.
Among its new offerings, the Pelandale store will have a Wine Steward on staff to assist shoppers in finding the ideal beverage for any occasion. The top-tier collection of bourbons and tequilas, along with rare finds in scotch, rum, and cognac will elevate any fine spirit experience. The expanded floral shop will play host to an on-site professional florist for creating seasonal and special occasion arrangements along with “mix-your-own” bouquets.
“We are eager to reveal the newest shopping experience at Save Mart right here in the Central Valley, with thousands of new items, the best fresh food and easy meal solutions at the same low prices our customers expect and deserve,” said Donovan Ford, senior vice president and chief operations officer for The Save Mart Companies. “Modesto is our hometown, and our commitment to this city has never been stronger. When we invest in our stores, it’s an investment in our community and that commitment is as strong as it ever was.”
Celebrating an impressive 29-year career at Save Mart, Pelandale store manager Jaun Saldana welcomed guests and dignitaries during the ceremonial ribbon cutting and proudly presented $6,500 in community investments to local organizations, including donations to Ballet Folklorico Los Falcones, Perkins Elementary School, Boys and Girls Club of Stanislaus County, Valley Children’s Hospital, and Modesto Junior College Fire Academy.
The first 100 shoppers received a specially curated bag of groceries including a mystery gift card, valued between $10 – $100 and visitors who signed up for a Save Mart Rewards account were entered for a chance to win $1,000 in free groceries (valid 1/15-2/28/2025 for new sign ups only).
To further celebrate the occasion, Save Mart’s iconic “Big Red,” California’s largest and fastest fully drivable shopping cart, was on site and will remain so throughout the weekend. The company has a variety of activities scheduled to mark the grand reopening in the coming weeks including special in-store samplings.
For shoppers’ convenience, a new curbside Pick-up area with dedicated parking stalls is featured prominently in the front of the store and is free to online Save Mart shoppers every day. Home delivery platforms including Instacart, DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats will continue to fulfill the needs of online customers. In addition, Save Mart welcomes shoppers with EBT SNAP and offers payment options through our ecommerce partners Instacart and Door Dash, as well as on savemart.com.
