Save Mart Supermarkets Spokesperson isCalifornia Grocers Association’s “Advocate of the Year”
Modesto, Calif., November 14, 2011– Alicia Rockwell, Director of Public Affairs & Communications for the Save Mart family of stores- Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, FoodMaxx and Maxx Value Foods, was totally surprised when honored with the California Grocer Associations’ “Advocate of the Year” award. The award was presented during the annual in-person Government Relations Committee meeting held this year in Southern California and is a first for CGA.
Ron Fong, President & CEO of the California Grocer Association says CGA can’t be successful without the active participation of its membership; says Ron, “We wanted to recognize anindividual who has gone above and beyond in their efforts to support CGA’s Government Relations programs. The staff wanted to recognize Alicia because she has represented SaveMart and CGA so well in front of state and local government. She rarely misses a meeting or hearing.”
Alicia has been with Save Mart since 1998 and has worn many hats during her 13-year tenure with the company. Currently, she oversees corporate communication, media relations, and government relations. The past couple of years her focus has been directed towards advocating for the grocery industry as Save Mart grew to be the largest privately owned supermarket in California.
