The Save Mart Companies’ C.A.R.E.S. Foundation has again partnered with the California State University, Stanislaus Foundation and gifted $10,000 grant to help improve access to healthy foods for students on campus.

The grant will go directly to the Warriors Food Pantry project that provides non-perishable food items and toiletries at no cost to Stan State students in need. Located in the Student Support Building, the pantry aims to decrease the impact that food insecurities have on the academic success of students, as well as helps to alleviate hunger within the campus community.

This is the second year the C.A.R.E.S. Foundation has partnered with the university. In 2018, the Foundation donated a similar $10,000 grant to the Warriors Food Pantry.

“Student food insecurity is widespread on almost every college campus, and it is certainly prevalent here at Stanislaus State,” said Christine Erickson, vice president for Student Affairs. “We are proud of what we’re doing at Stan State through our Food Pantry and other Basic Needs initiatives to help address these insecurities, and we cannot thank the SaveMart Companies enough for their generous support and partnership with us in aiding our students and confronting this critical issue.”

The Save Mart Companies C.A.R.E.S. Foundation donated over $300,000 last year to over four dozen local organizations throughout California and Northern Nevada. C.A.R.E.S. stands for Community, Arts, Recreation, Education and Sports and focuses on improving lives under these categories.
