Dazzling Lucky California Float Pays Homage to Kitchen God in San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade on February 19
SAN FRANCISCO– Jan. 28, 2022 – A proud member of the communities and neighborhoods it serves, Lucky California is continuing its longstanding tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year in locations throughout the Bay Area, offering an abundance of specialty ingredients to prepare delicious authentic dishes, from dumplings, noodles and Nian Gao as well as tangerines and oranges for gifting. In addition, Lucky California is proud to continue its long-standing sponsorship of San Francisco’s Chinese New Year parade taking place on Saturday, Feb. 19.
“For more than a decade, Lucky California has had the privilege of celebrating the Lunar New Year traditions with our shoppers, throughout the neighborhoods we serve,” said Bobby McDowell, vice president store operations, Lucky California. “We are honored to continue our sponsorship of the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade and most importantly proud to be a part of this vibrant community.”
To commemorate the Year of the Tiger celebration, Lucky California stores throughout the Bay Area are offering a host of traditional food items and floral decorations to help our shoppers celebrate the New Year with loved ones. A Lucky California booth will be featured at the Flower Market Fair in San Francisco’s Chinatown on January 29 and January 30 and a dazzling Lucky California float paying homage to the Kitchen God will be presented in the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade on Saturday, Feb. 19.
San Francisco’s Lucky California store, located on 1515 Sloat Blvd., is also showcasing a magnificent, life-sized Harvester Water Tiger statue designed by Deyi Robin Zhao, a student at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. The Harvester Water Tiger brings good luck and abundance to all who greet her. An image of the Lucky California Harvester Water Tiger is available here.
“My design of the Harvester Water Tiger symbolizes luck and the plum tree motif on the tiger’s body signifies the tiger’s perseverance, strength, and bravery. The statue represents good fortune, new hope, and endless possibilities,” said Zhao. After the display period, the statue will be auctioned off with net proceeds benefiting local community non-profits.
After a year hiatus, the San Francisco’s Chinese New Year parade is returning on Feb.19 and will feature Lucky California’s dazzling float that pays homage to the traditions of the Kitchen God, representing the warmth of the hearth, family, and good fortune for the new year. The parade will be telecast on KTVU Fox 2 on Saturday, February 26 from 6pm-8pm and Sunday, February 27 from 9am-11am and 5pm-7pm on KTVU PLUS. KTSF 26 will offer a Mandarin telecast on Sunday, February 20 from 6pm-8pm.
