San Leandro FoodMaxx, located on 699 Lewelling Blvd., has been fortunate to host another Cooking Matters class this weekend.
Cooking Matters, a program offering free, six-week-long series of cooking and nutrition classes throughout the Bay Area by 18 Reasons, a local non-profit, shares culinary skills and creativity with low-income communities.
San Leandro residents enjoyed learning about nutritious and healthy food options on Saturday by going to station to station- each station was dedicated to a specific food group. All who participated enjoyed a $10 gift card to use at their next FoodMaxx purchase.
The Cooking Matters curriculum was by the Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America. Nonprofits across the country use Cooking Matters to teach valuable skills in vulnerable communities.
