It’s that time of year when our local food banks are running low on donations. Save Mart’s and Lucky’s annual Peanut Butter Roundup runs May 17 to May 31. To give the campaign a boost, Jif peanut butter and Smucker’s jelly are each offering a Buy One/Give One promotion, making it easy for you to participate. New this year, Save Mart and Lucky are also making Sunny Select peanut butter and jelly available under this promotion. Similar quality at lower prices. Every time you buy one jar of peanut butter or jelly, you get another one of the same brand free to donate! Last year, our stores collectively received ten tons of peanut butter, enough to make more than a quarter-million sandwiches.
For the second year in a row, the “roundup” feature will also be made available at the cash register. You can roundup your grocery tab, and 100% of the change will benefit local food banks. Nearly $10,000 was collected in 2016.
The Peanut Butter Roundup is meant to raise awareness of the struggles many families experience during the summer break when their kids do not have access to school meals. Peanut Butter makes for a perfect donation because it’s high in protein, shelf-stable and kids enjoy it.
Help spread the love by telling your family and friends to participate! Post pictures about donations on social media by using the hashtag #PeanutButterRoundup to help build momentum for the event.
