Lucky Supermarkets, once again, helped feed Castlemont High School students during their Senior Field Trip to Angel Island. A last-minute grant enabled them to go, but it only paid for transportation and admission. 96% of Castlemont students are on a lunch program, so asking them to bring their own lunch is something most of them can’t afford to do. That’s the second highest rate in Oakland.
With a $200 gift card donated by Lucky Supermarkets, lead teacher/organizer Jonathan Guy purchased ingredients from the Montclair store to make lunches for 100 kids. Mr. Guy stayed up until 1:00 am making sandwiches and bagging chips. “You made these kids experience that much better,” said he said.
This year is the second year Lucky helped feed Castlemont students on their senior trip.
