When a series of storms passed through the Bay Area, San Jose and other parts of the region experienced unprecedented flooding. Thousands of residents were told to evacuate; many had to be rescued from their homes.
All 69 Lucky Supermarket stores became American Red Cross donation stations, allowing customers to donate to the flood victims at checkout. The one-week campaign that ended March 2 helped raise $8,900 for relief efforts.
A similar one-day drive last month at several Save Mart and FoodMaxx stores near the Oroville Dam Spillway emergency raised $1,300 for the Red Cross and its relief efforts in that area.
Hats off to our shoppers for their generosity and for stepping up to help their communities!
